Anne Rogers lives on a croft with her husband and various animals —
all of whom help to make life worth living. She writes poems and short stories,
many of which are composed whilst she's riding round the countryside on her horse
or bicycle. She's been a member of Huntly Writers since March 2009.

A woman and her horse are not easily parted
Anne Rogers
We've had our rough times Roxy and me
I've hit the deck more times than a few
Been told she's dangerous, even that she'll kill
Told to sell her, move her on,
But we're still together
Two as one
Sudden movements cause panic in her brain
I send reassurance along the rein
Friends ask concerned ‘Do you hack alone?’
I say no, I go with my horse,
And we're still together
Two as one
When we move her legs are mine
Our bodies fused along her spine
No longer horse and rider but riderhorse
Still together
Two as one
A woman and her horse are not easily parted
